BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

HealthSouth Corporation , the nation's largest provider of healthcare services, with nearly 1,800 facilities in all 50 states and abroad, has signed an agreement with JetBlue Airways Corporation to provide an ergonomics training program for up to 2,000 JetBlue employees at the airline's operations in Long Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, New York and Washington, D.C.

Through this agreement, HealthSouth will provide a custom ergonomics course that will assist employees at the workplace, as well as at home and play. This program is designed to decrease work-related injuries and workers' compensation cases. Employees learn to adapt for a safer workplace, resulting in less time off from work, which is beneficial to both the employee and employer.

"HealthSouth is pleased to announce this relationship with JetBlue," said Richard M. Scrushy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of HealthSouth. "As a low-cost provider, our presence in all 50 states allows us to be part of the solution for large companies facing the rising costs of healthcare. Our experience in ergonomics will provide JetBlue with convenient, quality training for their employees, while saving the company money."

"This partnership complements our commitment to safety," said Steve Predmore, VP of Safety at JetBlue. "Our crew members are our greatest asset and we are dedicated to providing them with the tools necessary to do their jobs safely and effectively."

"An effective ergonomics program, which HealthSouth has successfully implemented at other airlines, teaches individuals injury prevention through techniques specific to their workplace or industry," said HealthSouth Ergonomic Specialist Greg Johnson. "We work with each employee on proper lifting and handling techniques, as well as training them to deal with aircraft equipment and tasks performed over and under the wing and in the office setting at JetBlue."

In the future, HealthSouth expects to offer additional services to JetBlue that will cover all of their workers' compensation needs, including physician referral phone lines, and diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitation services.
